About Peggy

I was born in Seattle, Washington. My family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area when I was only 6 weeks old, so I consider myself a northern California girl. I went to high school in San Francisco and studied interior design in college. I met my husband, Ken, in 1979, and we were married in Carmel, California in 1981. It was a beautiful place to start our life together. As the saying goes, "first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage". In our case, we doubled our pleasure when twins, Ryan and Katie, were born in 1984. We decided I would stay home and raise the kids. Very soon, as I'm sure many of you have experienced, I was looking for some relief from the endless bottles, diapers, and dishes that came along with being a young wife and mother. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids more than anything and I wouldn't trade a minute of my life with them, but at the end of the day, I needed to be able to look and touch something that defined me as a person and not just a wife and mother. I ran across a PBS series on quilting hosted by Eleanor Burns and I thought to myself, I could do that. Like most of you, I ran through every craft known to man, but when I put fabric between my fingers I knew it was all over. I was hooked... I was "home"!

My mother was a home economics teacher prior to being a mother herself but growing up, I had no interest in the domestic side of life. I had no time for any of that. Imagine my mother's surprise when her youngest grew up to love quilting and do this for a living. Another lesson in "Never Say Never"...

We moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1995, after a brief stay in Arkansas. The kids are grown now and, fortunately, so has my "stash". Quilting has kept me sane, and my family safe all these years. I have a room full of yardage and a brain full of ideas. I could not imagine doing anything else with my life, and being able to share what I love has been an unbelievable blessing.
